Erica Hsu Taiwan, b. 1998

Erica Hsu was born in Boston, USA, in 1998 and is now based in London. Her paintings mainly focus on investigating the connection between soul and substance and its possibility of transcending dualism; by capturing the dynamics and residual shadows of the soul, she combines and transforms the imagery of artificial and organic items, structures, and sensual shapes, making them merge and coexist in the paintings. She got her MA from Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London, and has a BFA in Fine Arts from Taipei National University of Arts, Taiwan. Her painting Becoming a Sword When It’s Necessary was exhibited in The Way of All Flesh, Joint Exhibition curated by Delphian Gallery, Saatchi Gallery, London, 2024, and presenting four large-scale works in En route, Joint Exhibition by HdM Gallery, Beijing, China, 2024, continuing to collaborate with international galleries and spaces. Her second solo was held in July 2025 in KCCA, Taipei, Taiwan.
